Non-asbestos Gaskets (CNA)

A range of punched, cut, extruded, sheet and fabricated products.

What is a Non-asbestos gasket?

The core difference between asbestos and non-asbestos gaskets is that the former contains asbestos, which is used as a reinforcing fibre whilst non-asbestos gaskets do not. Due to its role as a reinforcing fibre, asbestos is known to be strong and is known for its high resistance to chemicals and heat. Although such properties make asbestos an excellent gasket fibre, they also make it a harmful substance to work with. It is for this reason that the majority of gasket manufacturers now offer non-asbestos reinforcing fibres in the production of gaskets that are equal to or better than asbestos gaskets used to be produced. One type of fibre that is commonly used is aramid fibre (Kevlar) and is known for being around 2 to 9 times more durable than asbestos.

Types of Non-asbestos Gaskets

As quality non asbestos gasket manufacturers, we provide a range of different types and styles of non-asbestos gaskets. Two distinct types of non-asbestos gasket that we offer are:

Non-Asbestos Gaskets

Style 2500 (green)

This type of non-asbestos gasket is a Garlock-manufactured utility-grade product, ideal for use within various industries, including:

  • Petrochemical industry
  • Chemical processing industry
  • Oil & gas industry
  • Process industry

This style of non-asbestos gasket is made from a non-asbestos gasket sheet using a blend of aramid fibres with a nitrile binder and is ideally suited for use with water, saturated steam, aliphatic hydrocarbons, oils and gasoline.

BLUE-GARD®

This is a range of compressed, non-asbestos gasket materials (CNA) manufactured by Garlock, and is available with a range of rubber binders developed for specific applications and industries. The unique blend of aramid fibres combined with fillers and elastomeric binders allows for an excellent seal through improved torque retention.

The range of BLUE-GARD® non-asbestos gasket products include:

BLUE-GARD® Style 3000 (blue)

This non-asbestos gasket material consists of aramid fibres, fillers and a Nitrile binder and is suitable for use with water, aliphatic hydrocarbons, oils and gasoline. This particular non-asbestos gasket material can withstand temperatures between -73°c to +370°c (continuous max 200°c) and up to 1000 PSI.

BLUE-GARD® Style 3200 (off-white)

This non-asbestos gasket sheet is made up of aramid fibres, fillers and a SBR binder, and is suitable with water and saturated steam (this would not be the preferred option for steam applications, but can be successful when adequately compressed). The working temperature range of this non asbestos gasket is from -73°c to +370°c (continuous max 200°c) and up to 1200 PSI.

BLUE-GARD® Style 3300 (black)

The Blue-Gard® style 3300 non-asbestos gasket material is composed of aramid fibres, fillers and a neoprene binder and is suitable with water, refrigerants, oils, fuels and saturated steam (this would not be the preferred option for steam applications, but are successful when adequately compressed). This non-asbestos gasket material can withstand temperatures between -73°c to +370°c (continuous max 200°c) and up to 1200 PSI.

BLUE-GARD® Style 3400 (grey / black / blue)

The Blue-Gard® style 3400 non-asbestos gasket sheet is composed of aramid fibres, fillers and an EPDM binder and is suitable with water, inert gases and saturated steam (this would not be the preferred option for steam applications, but are successful when adequately compressed). This non asbestos gasket can withstand temperature ranges from -73°c to +370°c (continuous max 200°c) and up to 1200 PSI.

BLUE-GARD® Style 3700 (grey / blue)

This non-asbestos gasket material is composed of aramid fibres, fillers and an EPDM binder and is suitable with water, inert gases and saturated steam (this would not be the preferred option for steam applications, but is successful when adequately compressed). This specific non-asbestos gasket sheet can endure temperatures from as low as -73°c to +370°c (continuous max 200°c) and up to 1200 PSI.
