O Rings, Cord and Kits

What are Rubber O-Rings?

O-rings are a common type of seal, used in a wide range of applications.

O Rings, Cord and Kits

They are essentially a looped elastomer with a circular cross-section that sits within an O-ring groove. Once this cross-section is forced under pressure, it returns back to its original shape, forming an excellent seal at the interface. We stock and manufacture a complete range of rubber O-rings, O-ring cord and O-ring kits.

Buy O-rings from our online store, where we have over 10,000 O-ring sizes listed.

We have the facilities to fabricate large O-rings and specialised rubber O-rings in house and are also able to mould complex seals with an O-ring cross section. Please contact us with details of your requirements and we will be able to advise you on the most suitable manufacture method.

What are Rubber O-Rings used for?

O-rings are commonly used for their sealing properties, as they are often used to keep air and liquids from passing in or out of any given area.

Many O-ring material options are available from stock or can be purchased as a bespoke order. We manufacture and supply an array of rubber O-rings in the following materials:

  • Nitrile O-rings (NBR)
  • Viton® O-rings (FKM)
  • Silicone O-rings
  • Neoprene® O-rings
  • EPDM O-rings
  • Viton O-rings

We can also offer O-rings in a range of specialised materials, if you have a particularly demanding environment or special performance requirements. We supply O-rings to BS1806 for Imperial sizes and BS4518 for Metric sizes. We can also provide guidance on correct housing designs, such as the right application of BS3601 part 2. Have a look at this guide to view our complete rubber O-rings range and housing designs for face and shaft applications.

We manufacture and supply PTFE back-up rings , used to prevent O-rings from extrusion under pressure. These may be spiral types such as those laid out in BS5106 or solid styles such as the profiles listed on our Back-up rings page.

What is O-ring Cord?

O-ring cord has an o-profile but is supplied as an extruded cord and can therefore be cut to the length that you require. O-ring cord can be used as a static seal for when standard sizes are either unavailable or too costly, and can be bonded or vulcanised to the size required. O-ring cord can be supplied in all standard materials and supplied in lengths or coils. We offer O-ring cord with standard sections, ranging from 1mm – 20mm.
