Adam Gatrell on the Great South Run

Adam Gatrell on the Great South Run

An overcast October Sunday morning provided a perfect climate for the record 24000+ competitors of the 2011 Bupa Great South Run. The 22nd annual event started at a gallop with eventual winner Leonard Komon tearing off to an opening mile of 4:12 and finishing in an impressive 46.18. Using this as my first training run since securing a place in the 2012 London marathon I was happy to finish in 1.31.31, beating GMTV’s Dr Hilary Jones and former Portsmouth footballer Linvoy Primus.
