At Martin’s Rubber, we stock v ring seals of all types and materials, in a variety of sizes, to meet your v seal application requirements.
What is v ring seal?
The function of a v ring seal, or v ring, is to snap over a rotating shaft and act as a centrifugal seal acting against the bearing face and throwing dirt and contaminants away from the bearing area, which will probably contain the primary sealing elements. V seals are not designed to seal against fluids or pressure differentials in their own right. A v ring’s prime function is to exclude contaminants.

How do v ring seals work?
V rings are flexible rubber seals that work by stretching and fitting onto a shaft and then rotate with the shaft against a counter face. V ring seals are designed to give the lips an automatic sealing action. V seals provide secondary sealing as pressure acting on the header ring spreads the v rings, thereby increasing the sealing area.
V ring seal applications
Careful consideration needs to be given to the specific environment and application in which the v ring will be applied. V ring seals can be used in a number of applications, for example, v rings can be used to protect bearings on rollers in:
● Steel mills
● Cement mills
● Machine tools
● Paper mills
● Pillow blocks
● Electric motors
● Gear boxes
● Rolling mills
● Agricultural equipment and machinery
● Mining equipment and machinery
